Garbage Payment and Billing Information:

The City of Jasper operates its own garbage pickup service. Service is divided into three areas; residential, business and residential commercial service. Fees for these services are billed by and paid to the City of Jasper Public Works Department. The City of Jasper Sanitation Department provides the pickup service. The fees are mandatory and are as follows:

• Residential Service $8.00 per month billed quarterly in advance.
• Business Service 8 yd Dumpster 1 pickup per week is $20.00 billed monthly after service received.
• Residential Commercial $20.00 per month billed quarterly in advance.

Residential Customers

Billing and Payment Issues:

Residential customers receive bills the first of each month in January, April, July, and October. Bills are in the amount of $24.00 for three months service. Additional cans are $4.00 each billed quarterly. They can be paid by mail, direct deposit, or in person at our collection office or our drop off box located at Jasper City Hall, 400 West 19 th Street. Payment is due by the 20th of the month and a $5.00 late fee is added for payments received after this date. Call 221-8533 for billing or payment questions.

Any resident that can show proof to the City that their household income is below the level determined by the Department of Urban Development to be "very low income" shall pay no monthly service fee for that dwelling unit. Additionally, the City exempts residents from the service fee where Social Security is the sole source of income. Service Issues:

New residential customers are provided a 98-gallon garbage container upon payment. Once payment is received a sticker is provided to attach to the can. Garbage is picked up once a week by the Sanitation Department. Additional cans will be provided for the sum of $4.00 per month for each additional can. Garbage cans must be placed in the correct position, location, and must have a current sticker in order to receive service. If you do not receive a sticker soon after you pay your bill, please call our office at 221-8533. If you miss a pickup and you have a current sticker on your can, call 221-8519.

Business Customers

Billing and Payment Issues :

Business customers receive bills at the first of the month following service. Payment is due by the twentieth day of the month following the service month and shall become delinquent if not paid within ten days thereafter. A penalty of ten percent or five dollars, whichever is greater, is assessed for late payment. Payments can be mailed to Public Works, P.O. Box 1669, Jasper, AL 35502, or paid in person at our Public Works Office, located on the first floor of Jasper City Hall, 400 West 19 th Street. Rates to be paid depend upon the number of pickups. Service Issues :

New businesses will establish service through our Sanitation Department at 221-8519. The Sanitation Director will determine the number of pickups per week needed by a business establishment based upon information provided by the business. The City furnishes the business with an eight yard dumpster. Usually service is set up at the time a business license is purchased. The Sanitation Department will furnish the pickup date and time. Service will be discontinued fifteen days after the twentieth of the month for nonpayment. Residential Commercial Customers

Billing Issues:

The Director of Sanitation is authorized to include within the residential service those business establishments located on normal residential pickup routes or business routes (where possible), provided such establishments do not generate more than ninety-eight (98) gallons of refuse per week. The person operating such establishment shall pay the minimum commercial rate of twenty dollars ($20.00) per month. Billing will be done quarterly, in advance, for the cost of the service. A sticker will be issued to the residential commercial customer upon payment. The stickers must be placed on the garbage container per instructions on the back of the sticker. Garbage containers not bearing a properly applied sticker will not receive refuse service. For information regarding billing or payment call 221-8533.

Service Issues:

The Sanitation Director must approve requests for residential commercial service. Upon approval, a 98-gallon container will be issued to the customer. Containers must be placed at an appropriate location approved by the Sanitation Department and on the days and between the hours designated by the Sanitation Department.
