Jasper Mayor Sonny Posey presented a proclamation Tuesday to recognize May 23 as Rail Safety Tour Day as part of this year’s Operation LifeSaver campaign.
Operation Lifesaver is a nationwide public awareness campaign dedicated to reducing collisions, injuries and fatalities at rail crossings across the U.S.
The group’s catch phrase is ‘See Tracks? Think Train.’
The proclamation, which Posey presented to Carl Goforth and Nancy Hudson of Operation Lifesaver, read, in part, that “in 2015, preliminary data shows that of 90 highway-rail collision incidents involving trains, there were 34 injuries and fatalities in Alabama …”Read more ...
