NOTICE

Jasper Municipal Court will resume Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. Court will temporarily be held every Thursday and Friday (except for July 3 and July 24, 2020). 𝑨𝒍𝒍 Court sessions will be held at the Jasper Civic Center until further notice in order to comply with social distancing recommendations.   Face Masks are required!

Mayor, council presented election certificates

JASPER - Mayor David O’Mary and city council members Danny Gambrell, Willie Moore, Jennifer Williams Smith and Gary Cowen were each presented Certificates of Election during Tuesday’s Jasper City Council meeting, signifying another four-year term in office.

Each were unopposed in the upcoming municipal election.

Jed Daniel, who previously served on the council, was also presented a Certificate of Election. Daniel was unopposed in his bid for the District 1 seat that’s being vacated by current council member Sonny Posey.

City leaders encourage proper PPE disposal

Littering of PPE (personal protective equipment) is happening across the nation, even in Walker County.While Jasper Mayor David O’Mary admits he hasn’t received reports of masks being significantly littered throughout the city, it’s not uncommon to see face masks, medical gloves and other items discarded in the parking lots of area businesses.
