JASPER, AL - The City of Jasper has been recognized with the Silver Risk Management Award from the insurance divisions of the Alabama League of Municipalities (ALM), honoring the city’s commitment to workplace safety, responsible operations, and effective risk management practices.
The award is presented through ALM’s Municipal Workers’ Compensation Fund (MWCF) and the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation (AMIC), which together serve hundreds of municipalities and public entities across Alabama. The recognition is based on a member’s loss ratio from the prior year and acknowledges organizations that have successfully implemented programs and procedures to reduce workplace injuries and liability risks.
The Silver Risk Management Award is presented to members with a loss ratio between 5% and 20%, reflecting a strong record of loss control and risk management.
Mayor Josh Gates said the recognition reflects the City of Jasper’s commitment to maintaining safe operations for both employees and the public.
“This recognition reflects the professionalism and dedication of our city employees who work every day to serve the people of Jasper,” said Gates. “By prioritizing safety and strong risk management practices, we are protecting our employees, our resources, and the citizens we serve.”
ALM established the Risk Management Award Program in 2002 to recognize member entities that demonstrate excellence in reducing workplace incidents and strengthening operational safety programs. Through these efforts, participating cities and organizations help minimize employee injuries and property losses while promoting safer workplaces and communities.
Based in Montgomery, the Alabama League of Municipalities was organized in 1935 and serves as the recognized voice of Alabama’s cities and towns. Representing more than 450 member municipalities, the League works to secure legislation that enables cities and towns to operate more efficiently and effectively while also providing training, resources, and support for municipal officials and employees.
