Your Day In Court

When a traffic citation is issued the officer will fill in a date in the box titled "COURT APPEARANCE DATE" located in the lower portion of the citation. This date is considered by the court as an arraignment date. On this date you will be informed by the Judge of what you are charged with and asked how you wish to plead to the charge.  Your right to an attorney will be addressed.

You will be required to post a bond before you are released from custody. The jailer will inform you of the bond requirements and filing fees. Upon release you will be given a copy of the bond you signed with your court date filled in near the top portion of the bond.

On your arraignment court date, when the Judge advises you of what you are charged with and how you wish to plead, you should answer you wish to plead "not guilty." You will be given a court order to report back to court on a future trial date when all parties involved in your case will be present and give their sworn testimony before the Judge.

Contact the Jasper Municipal Court at 400 West 19th Street, Jasper, Alabama, telephone number 205-221-4254.

If you miss your court date, you will be charged with failure to appear in court. It is in your best interest to avoid missing your court date.
