April Proclamations

proclamation
April 4, 2024 - At Tuesday’s council meeting, Mayor David O’Mary and the Jasper City Council proclaimed the month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and Fair Housing Month in Jasper.

This month is not only a time to raise awareness of child abuse, neglect, and its prevention, but to also recognize the many people who work to support children and strengthen families. Johnny Sudberry M.Div., the Executive Director of The Children's Advocacy Center of Walker County, was present to receive the proclamation along with representatives from the Jasper Area Family Services Center and the Children’s Policy Council. Johnny Sudberry gave Mayor O’Mary and each council member a blue light bulb and encouraged them to change their front porch light to blue in support of the Alabama Dept. of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention, the Children’s Trust Fund, and to help raise awareness of child abuse prevention.
