GYN Cancer Awareness

council and supporters stand with GYN Cancer Awareness Proclamation

September 18, 2025 - At yesterday's Jasper City Council meeting, the Council once again proclaimed September 2025 as Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month in Jasper. Jim Crandall and UAB Dr. Isabel Scarinci briefly spoke at the meeting sharing that Alabama has one of the highest cervical cancer incidences of mortality in the country, with Walker County incidences among the highest in the state.

The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation focuses on early detection research, education, and support services for GYN cancer patients and their families throughout Alabama. Members of the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation will display teal bows around Jasper as part of their "A State of Teal" initiative to raise awareness of all GYN cancers.
